Fire alarms are really loud.
…don’t be alarmed. I mean, they’re called alarms but right now it’s just the boy who cried wolf. Yes – I’m writing this while listening to incessant loud beeping.
I guess the Starbucks fire alarm just wanted to give us its own, special welcome to Arizona. At any rate – we’re just got to Phoenix, AZ and I need to actually work while we’re on the road, so we found the nearest Starbucks to get our caffeine and wi-fi at.
The trip out here was actually pretty great! My cousins fed us bagels and bade us farewell this morning, and we were on our way.
We stopped at an amazing little place for lunch called Rebel BBQ! It’s off the I-10 right before the Arizona border if you’re coming in from California.
(By the way, the alarm just got turned off! Yay!)
We split what they call the Rebel Grande Fries – basically, it’s a pile of fries covered in four delicious meats. A sampler (if you will) of ham, beef brisket, pulled pork and chicken.
…I don’t know if you’ve met me before, but I love meat. And potatoes. It was a plate of heaven. I tried to take a picture for you but….
Yeah… the food disappeared before I could take the picture. Sorry.
We carried on and broke into our first out-of-state state of the road trip! After about 45 minutes I convinced Rachel that we needed to exercise, because exercise is good for you and I come from the proud heritage of the [nerd] fitness family.
(By the way, if you have any interest in health and fitness and love nerdy things you have to read the blog linked above. It will change your life!)
I’m running out of time so I’ll make this quick: We pulled over at a rest stop, changed into athletic gear and ran around the rest stop! We made up the following routine:
- 20 squats
- 5 box jumps
- Short sprint
Repeat twice! And that was after a short warm up jogging and stretching session.
Tonight we’re cooking dinner for our CouchSurfing host – so I need to sign out and go pick up groceries, then head over! :)
So, until next post!
Over and out.
